The Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve is a magnificent place to enjoy nature, as well as the company of the tallest living things on earth. When you walk around the trails in this grove, it is wonderful to feel immersed in the serene atmosphere and think about how long these trees have been standing. According to the California State Parks website, The Armstrong Redwoods preserves Sequoia semperverines, commonly known as the coast redwoods, these trees can live to be 500 - 1000 years old, grow to a diameter of 12 - 16 feet, and stand from 200 - 250 feet tall. Some of them have lived longer and are taller than this.
