La Concepcion Panama
This panorama was taken just after New Years in the town square. Visible are some locals and a street vendor selling "ají" (small sweet peppers), garlic, cucumbers, otoe (the root of an elephant ear plant which is good in soups), ñame (a similar root used in soups with a more slippery texture), chayote, potatos, onions, celery, green bell peppers, corn, & culantro (similar in flavor to cilantro).
La Concepcion is located in the province of Chiriqui, Panama which is close to the border of Costa Rica, roughly 20-30 minutes by car. With an estimated population of 15 to 20 thousand people, La Concepcion is well developed with numerous stores, groceries, and all the usual services and ammenities (phone, water, electricity, high speed internet.)
Neighboring La Concepcion is David, a small city of roughly 80,000 people and Volcan, Boquete, and Cerro Punta which are of a much higher elevation and cooler climate.
